We respectfully acknowledge that The Casbah is located on the traditional and unceded territories of the Treaty 7 nations, including the Blackfoot Confederacy, the Tsuut’ina Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda Nations, as well as the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3. We honour and thank the Indigenous peoples whose stewardship of this land continues to inspire and enrich our community.
The Casbah opened its doors in 2005, born from a passion for sharing the rich flavors, vibrant culture, and heartfelt hospitality of Morocco with the city of Calgary. Inspired by the traditional casbahs, the fortified homes and community hubs found throughout Morocco, our restaurant aims to be a sanctuary where guests can experience the magic of Moroccan life.
Founded by a family deeply connected to their Moroccan roots, The Casbah brings generations of treasured recipes and culinary traditions to every table. From the tender slow cooked meats to the aromatic spices and tender steamed couscous, each dish reflects the warmth and soul of Moroccan cooking.
More than just food, The Casbah is a celebration of Moroccan heritage. Our intimate space is adorned with authentic wood carvings, glowing lanterns, and vibrant cultural décor that evoke the spirit of a true Moroccan casbah. Here, every meal is an invitation to slow down, connect, and savor the moment, just as families do across Morocco.
We invite you to join us on this journey and discover why The Casbah is more than a restaurant. It is a gathering place where tradition, taste, and togetherness come alive.
